Usually not, but many insurers require one before they’ll authorise costs, so check with your insurer if you’re going through them. Self-funding patients can book directly.
Yes. Nev works closely with physiotherapists across Berkshire and Oxfordshire. Your physio can contact the practice, or you can get in touch and mention who’s been treating you.
New patients are usually offered an appointment within a week, often sooner if you’re in significant pain. Say so when you call and the team will prioritise.
Usually yes, depending on your policy. Check your cover, get an authorisation code if required, and keep a note of who you spoke to. Your contract is ultimately with your insurer.
It captures the basics: contact details, which knee, and a short note on the problem, so Debbie can direct your enquiry and Nev has context before you meet. You can give these details over the phone instead if you’d prefer.
Yes at most. Royal Berkshire, Circle Reading, Dunedin Hospital, Townlands (Henley) and Princess Margaret (Windsor) all have on-site parking. Fortius (London) is best reached by public transport. See the locations page for each, and mention any mobility needs when you book.

It’s made up of separate parts: consultation, scans, surgeon’s fee, hospital fee and anaesthetist’s fee. Once Nev recommends a procedure, the hospital provides an itemised quote. Insured patients are usually covered, subject to policy. See the fees page.
Yes. Nev regularly reviews complex knee and children’s cases for a second opinion. Bring any letters, scans and reports you have. A second opinion doesn’t commit you to changing surgeons.
Yes. Many patients come to Nev privately to be seen within days rather than months. You’ll get the same honest advice either way, including being told if waiting or a non-surgical route is better for you.
No. Nev examines first and arranges any imaging that’s actually needed. If you already have recent scans from your GP or another clinic, bring them or the report.
